What Lexie Loves...
...Christmas Gift Ideas
With Christmas just around the corner this is the time to get shopping for
Christmas presents. I know that I love receiving books as gifts and am going to list
here some great Christmas book gift ideas for all you parents and grandparents,
aunts and uncles out there stressing over what to buy for your kids. Famous
authors always release books near Christmas and this is definitely no exception
with some of my favourite writers launching their new books around October/
November time.
✿ pal Plumstead by Jacqueline Wilson: this is Jacky’s 100th book, released on
O
7th October. You can’t go wrong with this brilliant author and fantastic story.
Jacqueline is loved by all reading fans and this definitely doesn’t let her down.
Touching, sweet and overall an absolutely amazing story. (aged 9+)
✿ wful Auntie by David Walliams: which readers don’t like these hilarious
A
stories by David Walliams? A side-splitting story from a side-splitting
author. Unfortunately, I don’t have a copy (yet) but will definitely be
getting one! (aged 7 – 11 girls and boys)
✿ Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Long Haul by Jeff Kinney: Yeah!!! Greg Heffley’s back for
more. No one could hate these ridiculously funny tales of middle-school student
Greg. What trouble will he get into this time? Another book I’ll be keeping an
eye out for. (aged 8 – 12 girls and boys)
✿ Dork Diaries: Once Upon a Dork by Rachel Renee Russell: I love these diaries
of Nikki and the terrible trouble that her arch-enemy MacKenzie gets her into.
So glad I’m not Nikki who has a nemesis set out to destroy her! Brilliant for girl
fans of Diary of a Wimpy Kid. (aged 8 – 12 girls)
✿ he Scarecrow’s Wedding by Julia Donaldson: I remember when I was little
T
reading all Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s books like The Gruffalo and
Room on the Broom. Well for those younger children in July 2014 Julia released
another book: The Scarecrow’s Wedding. (aged 3 – 5)
✿ Goth Girl by Chris Riddell: These Chris Riddell books make
fantastic gifts. With shiny red or purple down the pages,
silver skeletons for the end pages and intricate, gorgeous
illustrations, these look fabulous and stunning and are books
to treasure. (aged 8 – 10 girls)
✿ he Imaginary by A. F. Harrold: Again this book has superb
T
drawings which make it a brilliant gift (well done Emily
Gravett) and is a heartwarming, sweet book with some very
unexpected twists and turns throughout the story. May or
may not have made me cry (just a bit)!
All these books are great gifts for children and I hope these reviews
have solved your “oh no I have nothing to get so and so for Christmas”
dilemmas.
And Mum if you’re reading this remember the titles of those first
few books!!!
I hope you have a lovely Christmas and New Year everyone.
