Sarah Parfitt, organiser of the event, told us “this
was a truly life affirming event - #leap4africa was
a celebration of community - at both a local and
global level- and of 75 intrepid people of all ages
(8-60!) conquering their fears and attempting the
Leap of Faith.
I am incredibly grateful to friends, colleagues and
strangers who got behind the project and to the
phenomenal Longridge team for running the event
so seamlessly. Tutu Melaku said the jump had
changed her life. We were also very grateful to
have the support of Rachel Gerrish from Bourne
End & Cookham Rotaract Club and Mike Ware from
the Rotary Club.

Longridge Activity Centre says: The Leap
of Faith challenge starts with a climb
to the top of a 13 metre pole. Next, a
climb onto the small platform, testing
your balance as you straighten up and
stand to face the trapeze. And once
you’ve done all that, there’s the actual leap to make!
It’s an exhilarating and heart-pounding activity. It also
gives each participant a very real sense of personal
achievement, as even if they don’t manage to reach
the trapeze, they still get the satisfaction of knowing
that they made it up there and tried.
