With our National Conference only weeks away, we bring you a flavour of what to expect from our flagship event. Our new national strategy, Cricket Unleashed, has given the game in England and Wales a new direction – with coaching at the heart of igniting growth, inspiring participation and enhancing performance. On October 28-29th, at St George’s Park, we will be discussing no less than the future of our sport and where we, as coaches, fit in. 10 All ECB Coaches Association members are invited to join us at the home of England’s 24 national teams and FA Education in the Staffordshire countryside to discuss coaching’s contribution to more play, great teams and inspired fans. With Cricket Unleashed looking to take the sport to new areas we too have broadened the Hitting the Seam Issue 38 scope of the conference by inviting a number of speakers whose experience lays beyond cricket, but whose knowledge has specific relevance to the broadening role of the coach. Born Barikor, founder of OurParks – a fitness organisation which has changed the way people see their local community parks – will give us insight into the way he has innovated to reach out to new, previously inactive people. From beyond the confines of sport and fitness, Julian Stodd, from Sea Salt Learning, and Damian Hughes, author and Professor of Organisational Psychology, will be exploring ideas around leadership, cultural change and creating a winning mindset.
