L.L. Brasfield, Meridian architect, Tuesday discussed with the Lauderdale County School
Board plans for the new Northwest and Southeast Attendance Centers, to be constructed next
year. Brasfield discussed with the board unit and layout plans for the schools. In other action,
the board approved Mrs. Addie Banks Allen as a first grade teacher at Northeast School;
Authorized rental of the unoccupied teachers’ home at Lauderdale; Approved Johnny
McElhenny as a bus driver for Northeast School to replace Charles Maynard, who resigned;
Approved substitute teachers for all county schools and accepted bids from the W.F. White and
W.F. Brown Construction Companies for bulldozing, planning and scraping work at county
schools.

Basketball in Lauderdale County through the years
Lauderdale County has produced many great basketball teams, both girls and boys, through the
