I don’t have the trust that He will provide for us. That happened this week, as we were looking at a stack of medical bills that needed to be paid, while fully aware of the fact that in less than a month’s time, our family will lose most of my income. I drove home crying because everything felt like too much. All we had been through over the last few months was coming out in tears.
He replied, "Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." Matthew 17:20
I was reading Matthew 17:20 recently and usually these words of Jesus are comforting and inspiring to me, but honestly this week I didn’t believe a word that I was reading. Those truths didn’t really seem for me in those moments when things in my life seemed impossible.
Do you need to see what is possible in order to follow His lead, and trust that He is good? That’s a question I had to ask myself. And I had to go back and remind myself of what I know is true.
I know He is good, and if I know He is good, then I trust that He knows our needs even before we do. I know He is faithful, and He has always given us everything we needed, and provided even in the smallest ways to let us know He loves us. I know I can trust Him, because He is a good Father, and good Fathers provide for their children.
Where is He asking you to trust Him? I’m not suggesting you quit your job, I’m encouraging you to trust that His word is true. He is the Creator of the heaven and the earth, of the wind and the waves. He is the One who is faithful forever.
Where were you at the dawn of creation? He was there. Believe Him as He says to you: If you knew what I was doing, you would step out and trust.
