Sanskrit [is] the mother of Europe’s languages"(Will Durant). Sanskrit is the Indian language, which is used much of India’s traditional literature. Around 49,736 of the population speak the Sanskrit language, according to the 1991 Indian census. The language was first introduced by the sages of Sanatan Dharm along with the Vedas, and Upanishads. The literature has mainly achieved greatness in religion and philosophy. The Indians are the only people of the Indo-European family which has created a great national religion such as Brahmanism, and a world religion Buddhism. During this period it embraced a general range subjects and spread to many branches in literature. Sanskrit today is still one of India’s official languages. Early Sanskrit was written using Brahmi and Kharosthi scripts. The language was a success and became the language of all cultured people in India and in countries influenced by India.
