his issue of HimPower celebrates the
Mothers and Fathers who share their
strength, resilience, love, protec-
tion, resources, and faith with their
children, families, friends, co-workers, and
church family. As you gather to celebrate
Mothers in May and Fathers in June, family
weddings, family reunions, graduations, and
just plain old picnics or Sunday get-togeth-
ers, encourage one another to explore family
health histories and strategize to begin heal-
ing our families and communities. Healthier
eating and increased physical activity for
every season of life will support mind, body,
and spirit healing. Medicine may cure a
range of diseases and/or medical conditions.

However, holistic healing begins from the
inside of this wonderfully made body that
is the temple of God. Sustainable lifestyle
changes are so essential to the health and
well-being of our families and communities.
Even within our limited choices, each of us
can make better nutrition choices that will
support and strengthen mind, body, and
spirit connections. If we have more than
our neighbor, we must learn to share and
be more engaged in the politics that deter-
mine who has what, how much, and whether
everyone has equitable access to food, cloth-
ing, shelter, and a means to take care of self
and the family. Healthy bodies begin with
