“Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice”
I Samuel 15:22 KJV
F
or the past four years, one of my
greatest joys in the Lord has been
publishing the ezine for HimPower
Magazine. Month after month,
we have sought to share knowledge and
resources to help our readers live more pros-
perously according to the scriptures: 3 John
2, Hosea 4:6 and Jeremiah 29:11-13. About a
year and a half ago, I was led to expand the
HimPower Magazine presence to include
both the monthly ezine and a website ver-
sion for updates. This past January, we
relaunched the ezine in a bi-monthly format
in order to complete all that we have been
charged to do.
Even with these changes, it is now clear
I was only delaying the inevitable. The truth
is I was given a bigger project three years
ago that I have been unable to complete. I
prayed continuously for guidance on how
tto do it all to God’s glory. When I received
His answer, it was surprisingly simple. To
move forward, I had to let go of my priori-
ties in order to pursue His.
God’s timing is incredibly unpredict-
able, yet always impeccably perfect. Little
did I know when I was led to begin a dual
platform for HimPower Magazine that He
had set in motion the transition to
www.himpowermagazine as the primary
source to carry out the mission and vision
He has given us.
The truth is, as Christians, we sometime
burn ourselves out trying to do more than
God requires because we fail to ask Him if
what we are doing is what He wants before
we plunge in head first. To live abundantly
in Christ, it is necessary to seek His wisdom
to understand His will and purpose for our
lives. Unlike almost every other choice we
make, we don’t get to choose God’s will
for our lives. What He has given each of us
is the ability to choose whether we will be
obedient to His will or follow our own.
As hard as it is to give up something
you feel so passionately about, sometimes
it is exactly what is required to receive the
blessings God has waiting for you when you
trust Him. The lesson in all of this is that
no matter how willing you are to do every-
thing you can to glorify Him, unless you are
walking in His will each step of the way, it is
impossible to prosper as He intended.
Now that Christ has gotten my atten-
tion and has me in alignment with His will,
I have His peace and the freedom to move
forward. I hope you will stay connected with
us at www.himpowermagazine.com, and I
promise to keep in touch via the HimPower
Newsletter. As far as the new project that He
has given me is concerned, stay tuned there
is much more to come.
