14:15),” and “to obey is better than sacrifice
(I Samuel 15:22).” We can say repeatedly
that it is our desire to have a relationship
with God and serve him, but, if we don’t
do what he asks us to do, we are not in true
connection with the father. “Our obedience
to God is a clear indication of our love for
the father.”
Additionally, Repentance and Confes-
sion are key components in establishing a
closer walk with God. Actually, in order
for us to have a good relationship with the
father, we need to “make what is wrong in
our lives right.” We can’t continue to live in
sin and glorify our “flesh” and say that we
want to make our paths “straight” with the
Lord. For in God’s word he clearly articu-
lates, “You shall be holy, for the Lord your
God am holy (Leviticus 19:2).” That means
living an exemplary life that pleases God
in all we say and do! There must also be an
acknowledgement of our sinfulness (Psalm
32:5). You must recognize that you are the
“walking dead” and in need of Jesus to
revive your dark and sinful soul. Jesus, in
his word gives a clear directive, “Repent for
the kingdom of heaven is at hand (Matthew
3:2).” God is soon to come and it is impera-
tive that we align ourselves with his will and
purpose for our lives. Don’t wait thinking
that you have time because “time waits on
no man.” When God returns make sure you
are ready!”
Furthermore, trusting God is another
way to highlight our connection with the
Father. In order for us to love someone there
must be a certain level of trust. Trust and

love are interchangeable. When we trust
someone fully there is a great level of inti-
macy and we share with that person things
we will never share with anyone. We literally
trust that person with our lives. If we are
going to trust anyone the most dependable
person is God for the Bible clearly tells us to
“trust in the Lord (Psalm 37:3).”
And also, “humble yourselves under the
mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you
in due time (I Peter 5:6).” God doesn’t like
prideful people. Anything that we do, we do
it out of our love for God and to help others
and not to glorify ourselves. When we adopt
this mentality in the overall process God is
glorified and that is the way that it should
be! And, please don’t forget that once you’ve
confessed and repented of your sins, ask the
Lord into your heart. For the Bible states
“ask, and it will be given to you; seek and
you will find; knock, and it will be open to
you (Luke 11:9).”
Finally, the way that we grow in closer
relationship with God and in Godly wisdom
as a whole is to ask God for it. For the Bible
states, “if any of you lack wisdom, let him
ask of God, who gives to all liberally and
without reproach, and it will be given to
him (James 1:5).” God is open and ready to
