Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on
your own understanding; in all your ways acknowl-
edge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
Ecclesiastes 1:9
A
s I sit and inhale the various
aromas and fragrances of God’s
creation and am enamored by
the wonderful scenery all around
me, I begin to think to myself about God’s
goodness and his unfathomable love that
he consistently exemplifies towards all of
mankind. The Bible tells us emphatically
that God so loved the world that he gave his
only begotten son that whosoever believeth
in Him would not perish but have eternal
life (John 3:16). I don’t know of anyone that
cares about all of us that much that they are
willing to sacrifice so much for our benefit.
We as human beings always passionately
expresses our deep longing and desire to be
in a committed relationship with someone
that loves us unconditionally and when we
don’t receive that “agape” type of love we
feel incomplete. Well, there is no need to
look in any other direction when looking for
love because the world’s viewpoint of love is
contaminated by deception, greed and pride,
but God is the epitome of what love is!
Although it is clear that God loves us all
of us as people and his arms are open to all
who surrender themselves to him, there are
steps that we as human beings need to take
in order for us to be in a divinely orches-
trated relationship with our heavenly father.
First and foremost is to fear God and
submit to his purpose for your life. The
Bible tells us the “the fear of the Lord is the
beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10).” You
are wise to allow God to be the orchestrator
of all areas of your life. You must recognize
that he alone is sovereign and knows the
paths that you should take from beginning
to end, once you realize this and relinquish
your desire to be in control of your life, you
are now headed in the right direction.
Not only should you fear God but you
should also be fully surrendered to him.
The ways in which you do this is to “take
up your cross and follow him daily and is
to be “kingdom focused” (Matthew 10:38)
(Matthew 6:33) (Proverbs 11:30). Now, too
many that may seem to be an “impossible
feat” but if you truly want a relationship
with God, you are willing to make the sacri-
fice. The Bible tells us to trust in the Lord
with all our hearts and lean not to our own
understanding, in all our ways acknowledge
him and he will direct our paths (Proverbs
3:5).”
Obedience and Love are also vitally
important when pursuing a closer walk with
God. In fact, they are indispensable! In the
Bible Jesus clearly verbalizes that “If you
love Me, keep My commandments (John
