During our time in Mindanao , in the Philippines , we traveled to a Maoist rebel village where we met a female rebel leader , whom we called Commander V . Commander V . told me that she had not prayed in 30 years . When I asked if the church could pray for her , she looked at me with flat eyes and said , “ The church will not pray for me , they do not like our communist army .” However , by God ’ s grace ( and in less than a week ), we were able to mobilize over 500 Philippine churches to lovingly pray for the rebels and specifically for Commander V .!

They Forgot They Didn ’ t Believe in Jesus

I was in an Asian nation on my way to dinner with one of my newer friends , a very successful social entrepreneur . We had been in dialogue about how to bring significant change to the traditional entertainment funding model , which he is also a part of . He brought me to dinner with some of his business acquaintances , as he was secretly hoping to pull me into their spiritual journey .
They were a couple in their late thirties , who were involved in so many areas in their country — politics , the church , entertainment — and I later found out that both sides of their family were billionaires . As we sat and had an incredible meal together , this couple ’ s guard came way down . The man asked me , “ You don ’ t really believe Jesus was more than a historical figure , do you ? How can you prove what you believe ?” Mind you , this is a man who is an elder of a church , whose family had helped build banking and finance in their nation , and who is a very empowered individual . He had a Ph . D . in both business and theology . I knew I would not win a debate in
