I ’ m sure you will enjoy this month ’ s edition with its rundown on what ’ s happening in council and stories about locals who are making a difference .
Council is a hive of activity and a new Deputy Mayor , Mitchell Blue , was voted in last month . Mitchell is not new to serving the Hills Shire ; he has been a committed volunteer with many of the local organisations for many years . We wish him well , p5 .
Our council is known for its strict budgeting and strategic leadership and it will spend 285 million on infrastructure , services and facilities as part of the Hills Shire Plan 2023-2024 . The plan is on exhibition until 17 May - be sure to go and have your say , p9 .
Our finest this month is Rajiv Chaudhri . His illustrious past in hospitality when working in London saw him meet some of the world ’ s most famous people ( not spoiling it !), go to p8 and 9 . This respected business man and entrepreneur loves nothing better than
HDI to give back to the community , but in his own distinct way - ‘ charity should have a purpose behind it ’.
A wonderful example of this is Rajiv taking over the Spicy Bean Café in Rouse Hill . He employed people with special needs and taught and nurtured them . His second Spicy Bean Café is in Castle Hill and is totally run by a team with special needs . Both businesses are doing remarkably well , p8 and 9 .
Leave the best ‘ til last ! If you think you are a ‘ big eater ’ go straight to p32 where I am sure you will be disappointed ! Randy Santel is from the US and is over here for a few weeks challenging people on the professional eating circuit . He already has a staggering 74 Australian records under his belt .
I hope you are enjoying the cooler weather - I , for one , definitely am . It makes me feel more alive and lighter ( although the scales don ’ t confirm the latter …)
Until next month !
