New artist’ s impressions have been unveiled as the NSW Government pushes ahead with delivering Box Hill’ s first permanent public schools, with a construction contract now awarded for the project.
Richard Crookes Constructions has been appointed to build the permanent home for Box Hill Public School, Box Hill High School and a new public preschool. The co-located facilities on Terry Road are expected to open on day one of Term 1, 2028.

Box Hill High School will also accommodate 1,000 students and feature 50 modern classrooms. It will be the first high school built in The Hills since 2009. The school will include specialist facilities for science, arts and technology, seven support classrooms, a hospitality kitchen, multipurpose hall, library, and sports field and courts.
A new public preschool, co-located with the primary school, will cater for up to 120 children each week, complementing another preschool planned for The Gables.
Both Box Hill Public School and Box Hill High School are currently operating from purpose-built temporary facilities, fasttracked by the Minns Labor Government to meet urgent enrolment demand while permanent schools are constructed.
The need for local schools has been driven by rapid population growth, with student enrolments in Box Hill increasing by more than 1,000 per cent between 2018 and 2023, according to the NSW Enrolment Growth Audit.
The project forms part of the Minns
Government’ s $ 9 billion investment in school infrastructure, including $ 3.9 billion for new and upgraded schools across Western Sydney.
Across The Hills, more than 240 new permanent classrooms for 5,500 students are being delivered through new builds and upgrades. This includes the new Gables Public School, upgrades to Excelsior Public School and Rouse Hill High School, and recently completed upgrades at Matthew Pearce Public School and Castle Hill Public School.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Education and Early Learning Prue Car said the project marked a significant step forward for local families.
“ The Minns Labor Government is getting on with delivering Box Hill’ s first permanent public schools, after fasttracking temporary facilities to meet immediate demand,” she said.
“ Families in Box Hill have waited far too long for local public schools. We are now delivering the high-quality education facilities this growing community needs.”
