OUT & ABOUT

CWA Galston News

We were delighted to welcome Hornsby Shire Council Mayor Warren Waddell to our recent branch meeting.
Warren joined us for morning tea where we had the opportunity to chat about local matters and share a little about what our branch does within the community. It was a wonderful chance to connect and talk about the things that matter to our members and the wider Galston area.
Thank you, Warren for taking the time to visit and spend the morning with us. We truly appreciated your interest and support. Wishing everyone a Happy Easter. We meet every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month at
10am at Galston community health centre. For more information call Anne 0404 228 209 or Patricia

Come along to Kenthurst Preschool’ s Inaugural Movie Night

Grab your popcorn, blankets and bean bags and head to John Benyon Park on Saturday, 2 May, for Kenthurst Preschool’ s first-ever outdoor movie night.
Festivities kick off at 3pm with carnival rides, entertainment and children’ s dance performances. Families can enjoy a BBQ and other food options or bring along a picnic and relax on the grass while soaking up the lively, familyfriendly atmosphere.
As the sun sets, the hit animated film Sing will be screened on a giant six-metre inflatable screen, creating a magical outdoor cinema experience. Movie favourites including fresh popcorn, fairy floss and bean bags will also be available.
With Mother’ s Day just around the corner, the event offers the perfect opportunity for families to spend quality time together and celebrate mums, grandmothers and carers in a relaxed setting.
Entry is free, with a gold coin donation requested for the movie. Donation buckets will be available on the night.
Kenthurst Preschool Director Kristen Coote said the event is all about bringing the community together.
“ We’ re thrilled to be hosting our very first movie
night and inviting families to enjoy a relaxed evening of fun, film and connection,” she said.
“ It’ s a wonderful chance for children to see their friends outside the classroom and for families to meet others in the community while enjoying a movie under the stars.”
The movie night, along with the preschool’ s annual fete, is one of the organisation’ s key fundraising events. This year, funds raised will go towards creating an Aboriginal garden and immersive mural within the preschool grounds.
“ The mural will be created in collaboration with the children, who will help paint what will become a lasting feature of our preschool environment,” Mrs Coote said.
The preschool also acknowledged the support of major sponsor Rance Property, which has backed local families and community initiatives in The Hills and Hawkesbury for more than 22 years.
All proceeds from the evening will support Kenthurst Preschool, a not-for-profit, communitybased service operating since 1967, with all funds reinvested to benefit local children and families.
