Naomi Stockman grew up in Razorback , McCarthur , a daughter of Swiss immigrants . While she is now a successful business woman , she is someone who understands hardship , reinvention , and ultimately , the power of self-discovery and healing . She ’ s worn many hats — accountant , single mother , entrepreneur , life coach , radio host — and lived through experiences that would stop most of us in our tracks .
But to her , the challenges are just part of the process of living and growing as a person .
Naomi left home at 15 and moved to far north Queensland with a boy she had only known for a short time . They survived by doing odd jobs , fruit picking , mowing lawns and other work they could pick up to help make ends meet . After living there for a year , they decided to return to Sydney , where she went to TAFE and got a job as a receptionist in the city , and ended up working for Westfield as their receptionist .
She enjoyed the work , but her plans were changed when she fell pregnant and had her first child .
She had her second baby not too long after and by the age of 21 , Naomi was a single mother of two with no job or skills . This could have sent her down the road to poverty , but Naomi decided she needed to get her life in order to provide for herself and her children . “ I was single with two kids and no education . I had to decide what to do so I worked hard and became an accountant . I met a new partner got married and we bought a house together .”
The security she craved didn ’ t last for long , as she was diagnosed with cancer at age 29 and not long after she finished her treatment fell pregnant with her third child after being told she would be unlikely to be able to have more children .
Sadly , this relationship didn ’ t withstand the stress of the illness and Naomi was once again a single mother , although this time she was in a much better place financially and could look after her family .
“ During my maternity leave I started a book keeping business , hired some other ladies , and before I knew it turned into a phone answering business and I had 16 staff !”
Despite outward success , she needed a new challenge and at 37 , she made the bold decision to leave the business behind , throwing herself into training that would transform her career yet again by studying life coaching , mental health and nutrition , hoping to find deeper answers and to help others find theirs .
She enjoyed the training , believing that everyone should try some kind of personal development to give themselves a challenge in life .
