ONE OF THE HILLS FINEST ...

Krish Nair is looking forward to making a difference in the community . by Lorna Gordon
Each year two young people are chosen to be the Youth Ambassadors for the Hills Shire and represent the younger demographic to the council .
They serve for a total of 12 months and take part in functions , forums , community events and become members of the Hills Youth Army and gain their feedback on specific projects .
This year Krish Nair and Shivani Sunda were chosen from the applicants and were inducted in May to their new roles . I was lucky enough to speak to both of these enthusiastic young people and find out more about them and their hopes for their time as Ambassadors .
Both Krish and Shivani will have monthly meetings with their council representative who is helping them with their projects and will have monthly meetings with the Hills Youth Army to hear their thoughts and decide what needs to be brought up with council .

I ’ m trying to bring the Hills Youth Army to help out with the work that needs done there .”
It ’ s fair to say that Krish is very community focused , he loves the multi culturalism in the Hills and he is keen to build upon the work done by previous Youth Ambassadors , seeing his place to be a bridge between the young people of the community and the council .
He made five promises when he took on the role that he is hoping to bring to fruition . 1 . Greater school engagement 2 . Promoting our harmony and multiculturalism . 3 . Igniting inclusivity . 4 . Supporting and promoting our retailers and businesses ., 5 . Protecting the environment . I ’ m always interested in what people get from volunteering , especially those who already have busy lives , so I asked Krish what he hoped to achieve from the role .
“ I think I will get a great deal of personal satisfaction by contributing to the community and being able to connect with a vast number of young people . “
With Krish currently studying for a double degree at University , I wondered how he was
