Contractor credentials go digital
The NSW Government has launched the Digital Individual Contractor Licence in the Service NSW app , allowing tradies to easily access their work licences and contractors and consumers to quickly check credentials . But for those who want to keep using their existing card that will always be an option . The Digital Contractor Licence is the second trade licence and credential to be digitised following the launch of the Digital White Card in April 2021 , which has more than 185,000 people using it in the Service NSW app . Scaffolding safety standards launched to stop workplace deaths
Worksites across the state will be safer following the launch of a new Scaffolding Industry Safety Standard , which provides a clear guide to prevent scaffolding-related injuries and deaths . On 1 April 2019 , a steel modular scaffold collapsed at a construction site in Sydney , tragically crushing two workers .
Following the tragic incident , the NSW Government became committed to ensuring such a tragic incident never occurs again . Saving our koala population
The NSW Government has released its national record breaking $ 193.3 million NSW Koala Strategy . The five-year plan is a comprehensive roadmap that will help deliver the NSW Government ’ s ambition to double the number of koalas who face multiple threats including loss and fragmentation of their habitat , compounded by the impact of the devastating 2019 – 20 bushfires .
The new strategy builds upon the previous $ 44.7 million NSW Koala Strategy , which protected more koala habitat , invested in fixing koala roadkill hotspots , provided wildlife care training and funded scientific research , among other things . $ 27 million-plus on its way via WestInvest funds

Hills Shire community projects will receive a substantial boost of grant funding thanks to the state government ’ s WestInvest program .
An initial $ 27 million is on its way to the council , which shares in a total of $ 400 million allocated to 15 councils under this infrastructure spend .
The WestInvest community project grants are worth $ 2 billion and form one part of the total $ 5 billion program .
In addition to this , The Hills Shire community - including council , not-forprofits , non-government organisations and Local Aboriginal Land Councils – were also eligible for project funding as part of the $ 1.6 billion Community Competitive Round .
Mayor Dr Peter Gangemi has welcomed the news saying the program comes at the right time for west and south west Sydney councils .
“ This is the largest government investment in local community projects that I have seen in my time on council ,” Mayor Gangemi said .
“ The WestInvest program in The Hills Shire comes at the perfect time – our economy is prospering , jobs are on the rise and more and more people are moving to our region .
“ This funding will support council to deliver projects for the growing Hills population .
“ These projects will create jobs and contribute to both our local and national economies as we move on from
the economic downturn of the COVID-19 pandemic .”
“ I know our residents , families , local business operators and employees will be reaping the benefits of improved community infrastructure and investment very soon ,” Mayor Gangemi added .
Hawkesbury MP Robyn Preston said this funding will improve a range of community assets .
“ The projects will relieve local traffic pinch points , create and improve parks , green space and create and enhance arts and cultural facilities ,” Ms Preston said .
Registered community providers will be advised if their projects are eligible to apply for any funding before grant
