We have a very important election on 21 May . It will be a critical choice for our community and our nation .
It ’ s a choice that will have consequences for everyone .
I ’ m committed to using my experience as your local MP to make our community and our country , better .
Our government has protected
|
|
|
|
lives and livelihoods during the pandemic with :
- one of the lowest death rates in the world
- some of the highest vaccination rates in the world and
- a strong economy with the lowest unemployment in 48 years
Locally we have delivered NorthConnex which has taken 6,000 trucks off Pennant Hills Road each day , making journeys quicker and safer and Pennant Hills Rd quieter .
We are upgrading infrastructure including
|
at Greenway Park and Pennant Hills Park . And through the government ’ s $ 1.3 billion telecommunications fund we are delivering more funding for telco infrastructure in communities like ours .
Our government is relieving families from cost of living pressures . Around 58,900 taxpayers in Berowra will benefit from tax relief of up to $ 1,500 this year and all Australians are saving 22 cents a litre on petrol .
We strengthened Medicare by making telehealth consultations permanent . And
|
|
we ’ re supporting small businesses to invest in training and technology .
We are committed to the largest peacetime increase to the defence workforce to ensure we are ready to face emerging threats .
But all of this is under threat if we change the government . This is not a time to risk our economic recovery or our national security .
I hope you will give me the opportunity to continue to serve our community

As part of National Road Safety Week 2022 which runs 15 May to 22 May , Friday 20 May has been designated as Walk Safely to School Day . This is a community initiative that aims to raise awareness of the health , road safety , transport and environmental benefits that regular walking ( especially to and from school ) can provide for the long term well-being of our children .
Apart from the physical benefits , regular walking also has a favourable impact on children ’ s cognitive and academic performance .
The national initiative also promotes healthy eating and encourages schools and P & Cs to Host a Healthy Breakfast on the day .
Top 4 tips for parents to get their kids walking to school :
1 . Walk some or if you can , walk all the way to school
2 . Get off the bus , train or tram a few stops earlier and walk the rest of the way
3 . Leave the car at least 1km away from school and walk the rest of the way
4 . If you can ’ t walk in the morning , walk home after school
With winter approaching it is a timely reminder for seniors , and other vulnerable community members to book a Flu Shot . The 2022 influenza vaccination program commenced 21 March to residential care facilities . As international borders open , seasonal influenza virus may start to reemerge and circulate in Australia .
The influenza vaccine and a dose of COVID-19 vaccine ( booster shot ) can be administered on the same day , according to updated ATAGI advice .

Local councils show state government how planning can beat urban heat
The Urban Heat Planning Toolkit developed by WSROC is the first guide of its kind to be implemented into local environment and development control plans – a move welcomed by president Barry Calvert .
“ There was no argument that heat is a major issue for Western Sydney , the question for councils was ‘ how do we do that ’,” Cr Calvert said .
“ Toolkit was developed to assist council planners working in this new and complex area of planning . The toolkit identifies design measures to reduce the impacts of urban heat , identifies how each measure works , summarises key evidence , and notes capacity of council planning to address it .”
It recommends :
· New LEP and DCP provisions specifically for urban heat ;
· Improvements to existing provisions ( eg : canopy cover or water management ) to better
· address heat ;
· Addressing measures beyond the scope of local planning controls .
“ A year on , it is extremely heartening to see the first controls specifically addressing urban heat being delivered through the current round of Local Environment Plan ( LEP ) and Development Control Plan ( DCP ) provisions ,” Cr Calvert said .
“ Because each council is at a different stage of their planning review , we expect more urban heat clauses to be released over the next 12 months .”
With half of all new development in Western Sydney bypassing local council planning controls as it goes through state-level compliance , and other issues including energy and thermal comfort which are state government considerations , WSROC hopes this local government developed tool kit will be an example used by all tiers of government moving forward .
“ It is essential that cool planning is addressed across all parts of the planning system . While promising advances were being made under the Design & Place SEPP , that work has unfortunately been overturned in recent weeks ,” Cr Calvert said .
“ We hope the NSW Government will improve urban heat mitigation measures in future state planning policies , so that local controls are backed by clear state-level guidance .”
