PREFECTS

The feeling of elation was slowly wearing off after being appointed prefects ; we were supposed to hit the ground running to avoid creating a vacuum seeing as our predecessors were busy with examinations . The tradition was broken somewhat when MO started us off with a surprise lunch at County House in Karen ; it was comforting to see Gary and Pavan around as they would
orientate us on the expectations ahead . The niceties over , we headed to Lukenya , where we would be immersed in a series of toughening bonding activities . Ms Algar and Mr Eveson came along to bond with the team that would be working very closely with them . They stayed with us throughout the bonding weekend , participating in everything , including the high ropes . Talk about commitment ! For me , the dodge the ball challenge and charades were particularly exciting ; we laughed and eased down from the tension that had built up during the two-hour journey . Rope climbing in groups helped us to learn to trust and depend on each other which is critically important if we are to work as a team . Even for those of us who are shy , the activities helped us to step out of our comfort zone and take charge ! By Hafsa Mughal
