What is your project about ? I established a marker recycling program within my high school and led a school supplies drive to kick it off . The
donated materials went to Crossroads family and women ' s shelters along with an outreach church that
works in the greater Pawtucket area . Based on my trial and error , I sent information to elementary and middle schools across the state in case they feel motivated to try this low effort initiative .
What is your favorite aspect of being a Girl Scout ? Being a Girl Scout and now a camp counselor for GSSNE , I will always carry that sense of duty and responsibility that being a Girl Scout has taught me . I learned important skills that I will never lose like first aid , group
management , and service to my community . The sisterhood that I have learned to embrace since starting as a Cadette followed me to camp and
now college .

What is your project about ? The purpose of my Gold Award , dream ( S ) TEAM , was to increase middle and high school girls ’ interest in science , technology , engineering , fine arts , and math ( STEAM ) careers by introducing and illustrating the paths various female role models have taken in their professions .
Why is your project important to you ? As a young woman interested in a STEAM career , seeing that only around 25 percent of workers in the scientific fields are women made me want to work to help close the gender gap . I was extremely fortunate to have a female mentor in STEAM in middle school , and I want other girls to have the same access to an intimate look at real life in the scientific fields . I discovered an entire support network of women eager and committed to helping younger women embark on their careers . I would like to continue to be a conduit of information which helps girls like me feel comfortable , competent , and connected when pursuing STEAM by continuing to expand and share the website I created . Additionally , I want to continue to raise awareness for the necessity of blending the fine arts and creativity with more technical scientific fields , as is conveyed through the use of the acronym STEAM instead of STEM .
