solution is to park at Bellegarde station and take the train to Evian. At the end of the holiday
take train from Chamonix to Bellegarde (as there are no longer any trains from Chamonix to
Evian). Flights: Fly to Geneva Airport (regular services from lots of UK airports) and then take
the train to Lausanne and then the boat across the lake from Lausanne to Evian.
Alpine Adventure: Lake Geneva to Nice:
Chamonix (Chamonix to Briançon): Train: Eurostar trains run services from London St
Pancras to Paris. Take RER to Paris Gare de Lyon and take train to Bellegarde. Change for train
to Chamonix. Trains also from Lyon and Marseille via Bellegarde. Car: There is secure parking
to leave your car in Chamonix (about 40 euros for the week), although return train journey is
long. Another option is to leave your car in Chambery and for the return journey take a TGV
from Bardoneccia to Chambery. Flights: Regular flights to Lyon St Exupery and then train as
above. Also possible to fly to Geneva and take trains from Geneva with a couple of changes.
Return: From Nevache take shuttle buses to either Briançon to take TER local trains or to
Bardoneccia to take TVG to Chambery and then Paris.
Alpine Adventure: Lake Geneva to Nice:
Briançon (Briançon to Nice): Train: Eurostar trains run services from London St Pancras to
Paris, Lyon and Marseille. Overnight TGV trains to Briançon from Austerlitz station, or TGV to
Valence or Lyon and Grenoble and then TER to Briançon. TER from Marseille to Briançon. Also
TGV trains to Oulx in Italy and shuttle bus to Briançon. At end of holiday shuttle bus to Nice.

Salisbury, Wiltshire (page 58)
Meeting at your guest house in Salisbury. Train: Salisbury is served by a main line train
station. Routes from London are via Waterloo station and take about 1hr 30min. Bus: National
Express operate services to Salisbury from cities throughout the UK including London. Advance
ticketing is required. Flights: There are 3 local airports with international flights: Bournemouth and Southampton are about 30 minutes drive away, whilst Bristol is about an hour
away. The 3 London airports are between 1hr 30 and 2 hrs drive away. To return to Salisbury: There are regular bus services from Shaftesbury to Salisbury city Centre with Wilts &
Dorset bus company. Bus lines 29, 26 and 27 run between the two towns - 6 services a day.
The journey takes about 1hr 15min.
Lyme Regis, Dorset coast (page 59)
Meeting at guest house in Lyme Regis. Train & bus: Train from London Waterloo station to
Axminster takes about 2hr 40min. From Axminster take bus line 31 to Lyme Regis. To return
from Lulworth—Take bus no. 103 to Wool where you can catch a train direct to London Waterloo. If you are returning to Lyme Regis to collect your car, catch the X53 Jurassic Coast bus at
Wool. To return from Corfe Castle or Swanage—Take bus no. 40 to Wareham where you can
catch a train direct to London Waterloo. If you are returning to Lyme Regis to collect your car,
catch the X53 Jurassic Coast bus at Wareham. Flights: There are 3 local airports with international flights: Bournemouth and Southampton are about 30 min drive away, whilst Bristol is
about 1 hr. The 3 London airports are between and 2 hrs 30 and 3 hrs drive. Car hire located
at the airports.
Cornwall (page 60)
To Bude: Train journey from London Paddington or Waterloo to Exeter. Two bus services
between Exeter and Bude run by First (X9 line) and Western Greyhound (line 599). The bus
journey takes about 1hr 50, whilst the train from London Paddington to Exeter St Davids takes
2 hours. From Padstow: Regular bus service between Padstow and Bodmin Parkway rail station
- 1hr - run by Western Greyhound (line 555). Trains from Bodmin Parkway to London Paddington take about 4 hours (some requiring a change of trains). From Newquay train station journeys to London take upwards of 5 hours, with changes at Par and sometimes at Plymouth.
Mendips (page 61)
To Weston-Super-Mare: Weston Super Mare lies on the mainline from Bristol to the South
West. Direct trains are available from London, Birmingham, Gloucester, Cardiff, Taunton and
Exeter. National coach services also access the town from Bristol and Bath. The nearest airport
is Bristol. It is possible to get an airport bus to Weston (A2). Service runs hourly from 7.13am
until 19.47pm and journey takes about an hour. More expensive would be a taxi from the
airport, about 15 miles (24km) from Weston. At the end of the holiday, transfer to Castle Cary
station for trains to London included in holiday price. Transfers towards other stations are also
possible for a supplement. Contact us for details.
Pembroke (page 62)
To Fishguard: Train journey from London Paddington, changing at Cardiff and/or Swansea.
Journey time about 5 hours. Trains from the north go via Cardiff or Bristol. It is also possible
to catch a train to Haverfordwest and then a local coach service to Fishguard. Small transfer
provided from train station in Fishguard. To return from St Davids, either bus service to Fishguard to collect car or bus service to Haverfordwest and train from there (as buses and trains
more regular to and from Haverfordwest than Fishguard.)
