There’s Oscar qualifying short thriller ‘The Child and The Dead’, and two staff favourites from last year, the intense but funny, S & M dungeon-set, ‘The Session’ and the engaging, beautifully-performed comedy ‘Vegas’. Motion: pictures DISPATCH Feminist Moving Image presents a short-format, experimental film programme that will question what it means to move - and to be moved - in the contemporary world. Through the impactful lens of women-centric moving images, this programme will also explore the revolutionary act of stillness and contemplation as an indispensable form of movement that allows us to wonder - and wander - in a world that encourages us to move ever faster, without thought. In February this year, student animators, composers, and sound designers from Edinburgh College of Art made one film a day, for 10 days, they made over 700 films in an online collaboration with students in Bulgaria, The Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, America, Canada, and England... These are some of the highlights. 42 The Adventures of Prince Achmed with SINK Hidden Door are delighted to present The Adventures of Prince Achmed, the 1926 German animated fairytale by Lotte Reiniger. The oldest surviving animated feature film to date, this seminal and stunning piece of film will be screened with a live soundtrack performed by SINK. To be screened in the Main Auditorium, this is an event not to be missed. The original Science Fiction epic by Fritz Lang, Metropolis explores a futuristic urban dystopia, and the attempts of a small few to bridge the gulf between the classes of their city.
