Hidden Causes - a Psychological Approach to Learning Detailed Ver. | 页面 11
Attention Spans
The attention span of each person differs. People with ADHD might have a limited
attention span compared to other people. People with ADHD might have difficulty
learning while sitting still. These type of people can learn better by incorporating
hands on activities that require movement from the student and allow frequent
breaks in order to help them absorb the information.
Prior Knowledge
A student's prior knowledge can affect how they learn in a lesson. If a student
doesn't have a prior knowledge about that particular topic, even though that
student has a high IQ, they will have a difficulty in understanding the lesson.
External Factors
People around You
The people that you are around affects the effectiveness of your studying. If the
people around you doesn’t support you studying and are always talking loudly
around you, you tend to get more distracted.
School
Your friends at school can also affect your studying. If they are done with their
studying and you aren’t, it motivates you to work faster. But most of the time, they
will talk to you about irrelevant things, which will break your concentration.
Environment
The environment that you are working in affects your studying. If you are studying
in an environment that you are comfortable in, it will be easier for you to focus and
concentrate. But if the environment that you are in isn’t comfortable for you and
has a lot of things that distracts you, it will be hard for you to concentrate.
To support the reasoning stated above, I conducted an interview with Ibu Dwi
Astuti, a psychology teacher in Global Jaya School. I asked her several questions
about the scientific reason behind students getting distracted.
