Distractions happen a lot when we are studying. It may vary from your mom calling you every 5 minutes telling you to clean your room, do your chores to the line notifications popping up on your phone. This issue is very common in students. There are lots of reasons why getting distracted is very common. A very big one is because of technology. Having your phone near you when you study increases the chance of you looking at it in the middle of your studying session, thus distracting you from finishing a task. Studying in a place that is very noisy and uncomfortable can also be the reason why you become distracted while studying. Scientifically speaking, the factors that might distract and disturb a student while studying is divided into two parts, internal and external factors. Internal factors deals with the physiological health of the student, their mental health, and the function of their body parts. External factors include the environment they’re living in, the things that they use for studying, and also the social and family situation around them. These factors can either affect the student negatively, or they wouldn’t be affected at all. Internal Factors Motivation Motivation is one of the most important factors that affect how people learn. When people are motivated, they might be more successful in accepting the information that is given to them, even if they have to work for a long time. The materials that are taught in the lesson also affect their motivation to learn. If the material is relevant towards their daily life, they will have motivation to learn. Intellectual Ability Every person has a different intellectual strength and weaknesses. This means that some people have a different capability of how they understand and interpret the information. Some people have an easier time in remembering information than others. Some people understand an information better by using abstract concepts while some need to have specific and concrete example to understand the information. Hidden Causes - 6
