Instead of picking out paint and wallpaper
for your baby’s room, your days are spent
lying still in your room, trying not to move
because if you do, that sip of water you just
had is going to come up. You lay there,
confused, and wondering why this baby
you wanted so much is making you so
miserable.

CALL IN THE MAID! I’M PREGNANT! I
HAVE HG AND MY LIFE IS ON HOLD!
Happiness depends more on the inward
disposition of mind than on outward
circumstances.

You also have a hundred other things to
worry about. There are bills to pay, even
more so now because of the extra medical
expenses, and the fact that you haven’t
been able to work since it started. There
are household chores and errands you have
not been able to get to. There are friends
you have been dying to see over lunch, but
the thought of even a morsel of food, let
alone a full meal, sends you into waves of
nausea.
So how do you cope? Do you just lay there,
feeling sorry for yourself? Or do you do the
things you CAN do but never had the time
for?
When most women get pregnant, they look
forward to spending the next nine months
preparing their households for their new
arrival. Their thoughts turn to buying baby
items, calling all their family and friends
with the great news, and preparing the
new baby’s room. But when your days
consist of always being close to a bathroom
and not being able to have even a small
bite of your favorite foods, you realize that
your pregnancy is not going to be the
smooth sailing you hoped for.
