There are five different types of drugs that have short-term and long-term effects on the human body. The five different drugs are heroin, cocaine, crystal meth, marijuana, and alcohol. That can have very harmful results on the human body, which can sometimes lead to different reasons for death.
One of the five different drugs is heroin. As soon as heroin enters the brain, the user experiences a surge of pleasurable sensation known as a "rush." When heroin enters the brain, crosses the blood-brain barrier, it is converted to morphine and quickly binds to opioid receptors, producing that euphoric feeling. Even mental functioning becomes clouded due to the depression of the central nervous system. Some Long-term effects of heroin appear after repeated use for some period of time. Chronic users may develop collapsed veins, infection of the heart lining and valves, and liver disease. In addition to the effects of the drug itself, street heroin may have additives that do not really dissolve and result in clogging the blood vessels that lead to the lungs, liver, kidneys, or brain. This can cause infection or even death of small patches of cells in vital organs.
The second of the five drugs is cocaine. Cocaine has short-term effects such as the loss of appetite, increase of blood pressure, heart rate, and body temperature. It can also cause depression, an intense drug craving, and bizarre sometimes-violent behavior. Some long-term effects of cocaine are severe depression and chest pains, respiratory failure, and permanent damage to blood vessels of the brain and ears, which can lead to heart attacks, strokes and death. Cocaine even if overdosed once can kill you.
The third of the five drugs is crystal meth. The drug is swallowed, or injected. In powdered form, it can be injected, sniffed or swallowed. Chunks of “ICE or GLASS” are smoked, similar to crack cocaine. Depending on how much is used, the high may last from 2 – 20 hours or so. Some short term effects are Heart rate, breathing and blood pressure increased – strokes, heart failure can occur, increased energy, appetite suppressed, dilated pupils, rapid speech and slurring words. Some long-term effects are Malnutrition, skin disorders, sleeplessness, weight loss, hallucinations, and mental illness.
The fourth of the five drugs is marijuana. Smoking marijuana is bad for the lungs. In fact smoking marijuana is more destructive to the lungs than smoking tobacco. Long-term use of marijuana can also result in loss of memory, inability to concentrate, and reduced level of the hormone testosterone in males. Smoking or ingesting TCH can produce a temporary feeling of euphoria and disorientation.
The fifth of the five drugs is alcohol. Alcohol is a depressant and even small amount of alcohol can slow down the rate at which the central nervous system functions. Heavy drinking fills the blood with so much alcohol that the central nervous system cannot function properly. It slows down reflexes, disrupts coordination, and impairs judgment. It is also the leading addiction in teenagers and a variety of adults.
These are the five different types of drugs that are harmful to the human body. Which also have long and short-term effects that have bad consequences to the human body. It's very important to not abuse these drugs, as they can ruin your life.
