Influenza
One of the many virus around the world is Influenza or commonly know as the flu. Like many viruses it attacks the immune system and can be contracted in various ways. If not treated it can have the possibility of killing you.
Influenza can be contracted in many ways. Its contracted when people breathe in the virus. When someone has influenza and sneezes, coughs, or even talks they set out the virus making it airborn. When the virus goes into the body, the bodies first response is to inflammate. Usually the throat is inflamed making it a soar throat. Other times the nose becomes inflamed sometimes making a stuffy nose. The inflammation is a second line of defense known as inflammatory defense.
The immune system will create thousands of white blood cells to fight the infection. Sometimes it will increase the body temperature because some viruses can not live in temperatures that are high causing a fever.
The sore throat, stuffy nose, and fever are only a few symptoms. Other symptoms are headaches, weakness or severe fatigue, cough or other respiratory problems, and red or watery eyes. Many of these symptoms are like the symptoms of a common cold. Many people each year believe these symptoms are from a common cold but many times its the flu.
If the Influenza virus is not taken well care of in a human they can potentially die. Although there are no long-term effects its still a dangerous virus. Over thousands of people get flu shots to prevent them from having the virus. This virus should not be taken lightly and everyone should get their flu shot annually even if you’re afraid of needles because when it strikes it strikes.
