Redgrave House
The last term has been a very busy for the Redgrave House. All the tutors
have been busy designing tutor group logos which will be used to identify
themselves in future house competitions. The creativity from the tutor
groups has been excellent. We now have ‘Trevis’ Tornados’,
The Law Breakers, Boothby Bashers, Kirner Crew and
‘ADC’s Destroyers’ with logos to match!
I’d like to take this opportunity to formally introduce my House Captains, Tom
Lodge and Thalia Knowles. Both have been a real asset to the House over the
years and deserve to be recognised for their efforts. Tom Lodge has also been
promoted to ‘Assistant Head Boy’ - well done Tom!
I was particularly pleased with how well represented Redgrave was at the first
‘Star Progress Award’ presentation. It was pleasing to see students rewarded for
their hard work in various subjects and to have so many parents/carers there to
support the event.
The Redgrave weekly tutor group quiz keeps rumbling on!
R-ET has a commanding lead with 204 points compared with their nearest rival
R-ADC on 180 points.

Team Anglia in Hungary
Ellie Wheatley, Year 9
On Thursday 21 November 2013 I arrived at Luton Airport to fly
out to Budapest, Hungary to take part in the Nation to Nation
U15 2013 badminton tournament. I was part of a team of 6
made up of 3 boys and 3 girls with my older brother Ben as one
of the coaches. We were called Team Anglia.
The tournament was played over 3 days, Friday to Sunday and
during that time we had to play Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia and 2
Hungarian teams. The matches consisted of 3 boys singles, 3
girls singles, 1 boys doubles, 1 girls doubles and 1 mixed
doubles which meant we all had 2 games each to play. We got
off to a flying start winning our opening match to Slovakia. We
then went on to beat all the other countries apart from the
st
Hungarian 1 team. This meant we were in the Final on Sunday morning having
to play Hungary again. We lost 7 -2 but I managed to take my singles so I was
really pleased.
It was an amazing experience and I met some great people and hopefully I will
be invited to play next year.

Mel Buxton, Course Tutor
Heritage High School was the latest venue chosen to hold a Table Tennis Junior
Officials Course. The course is intended to teach under 16 year old boys and
girls the rules of table tennis to enable them to officiate at school table tennis
competitions.
To achieve the Junior Umpire Award and be awarded the English Table Tennis
Certificate the participants had to pass a theory paper and also show their ability
in umpiring table tennis matches.
