MacArthur House
As 2013 bids us all farewell, I would like to say a huge festive thank you to all
the staff and students in MacArthur house for everything you have done over the last 12
months. Like the 12 days of Christmas I would like to take this opportunity to recap on my 12 favourite
memories from 2013.
Competitive house spirit - The desire to win at all cost from M-ALe has been a real revelation and one that is great for
morale (regardless cheating accusations!!!).
Deputy Head Girl – Evie Pattison securing her place in Heritage High School’s history by being appointed Deputy Head
Girl 2013- 2014.
Every victory counts - M-AMa and their trusty leaders Mrs Bulmer and Ms Marshall celebrating every little victory that
their tutor group receives. The jubilation in Ms Marshall’s voice when she found out that her tutor group was leading the
quiz will be a life long memory.
Two new Chiefs – Evie Pattison and Dylan Seabridge take the role of House Captain despite strong competition from
others.
There can be only one – Beating Mr P Steed’s Redgrave House in Sports Day restored some house and personal pride
as the mighty MacArthur sports team pulled together in real gladiatorial effort.
Sporting excellence - Ellie Reynolds (Athletics), Aaron Chambers Smith (Athletics), James Evans (Golf), Matt Simon
(Cricket) and Georgia Crapper (Cyclocross) all leading the way in their chosen sports, and inspiring others to follow in
their footsteps.
Bugsy Malone production - Watching students perform night after night, giving up their own time to entertain others at
Christmas time.
Changing of the Guard – Seeing the new team of prefects all working hard to ensure the house is kept running
smooth.
Tutor time delight - The delight on the 8 personal tutors’ faces when they find out for the first time their new Year 7s.
Christmas time together – The enjoyment of seeing everyone together at Christmas for the last 2 days of the year
sharing in the festivities that make Christmas special.
Its all worth it - GCSE Awards Evening. So many students receiving rewards for success and achievement.
Little STAR – Being witness
to so many smiling faces
from family and friends all
congregating together to
celebrate success of their
child at the STAR awards.
So as you can
see a very busy
year with many
highlights along
the way. Who
knows what
2014 has in
store?
Merry Christmas everyone and Happy new Year.
Keep up the good work Team MacArthur
Mr D Steed (a very proud Head of House)
"It is
Christmas in
the heart
that puts
Christmas in
the air."
