TO HELP CAMPBELL INDIANS

An incoming group of district champion junior high players and some experienced veterans have Campbell coach Preston Compton expecting bigger and better things for the Indians this season.
“ I am looking for us to be better this upcoming season,” said Compton.“ We have a great group of eighth graders that are coming off back to back junior high district champions.
“ We are still going to be very young across the board, only graduating two seniors but there are high hopes for this upcoming season and we look forward to being competitive and stacking up some wins.”
Compton’ s last name should be very familiar to longtime fans of the East Texas A & M Lions. He’ s the son of Lion Hall of Fame wide receiver Gary Compton, who set school records for receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
Preston Compton was also a record-setter as a quarterback at Graceland University in Iowa. He passed for a school-record 8,041 yards in his career and set a single-game school record with 501 yards passing in a game against Central Michigan in 2017.
Compton is back for his fourth season with the Indians, his third as head football coach.
Returning with Compton are offensive regulars Drake Sweeney at quarterback, Jayden Barker and Manny Knox at spread back, Matthew Sweeney at wide receiver and Noah Vazquez( 6-0, 205, Sr.) on the
