“ We have several returning starters on both sides of the ball,” said Green.
Dakari Johnson rushed for 661 yards last season and caught five passes for 65 yards.
Chayton Vaughan, Chett’ s younger brother, led the Trojans last year with 33 catches for 546 yards.
Channing Herman, another returning receiver, caught 16 passes for 207 yards.
Also back on offense are linemen Robert Goode, Bryce Bearden and Jaxson Hudson.
Returning to the defense are Herman, Vaughan, Osvaldo Ruiz and Gunner Campbell in the secondary, Hunter McPherson and Canyon Talley at the linebacker and Jusber Nena on the defensive line.
Talley led the Cumby defense with 86 tackles last season. Ruiz intercepted three passes and recorded 55 tackles. Campbell intercepted two passes and recorded 47 tackles. Herman managed 61 tackles and Vaughan was in on 20 stops.
Cumby tied for third place in the District 9-2A-II standings with James Bowie last year at 3-3. Maud won the district title at 6-0. Clarksville was second at 5-1.
“ James Bowie, Maud, Clarksville and Celeste will be the top teams to compete with,” said Green. What kind of season is Green expecting?“ Should be a good season for us,” he said.
