LOOKING TO IMPROVE

Expectations were high last season for the Celeste Blue Devils.
After going 8-4 and advancing two rounds in the 2023 playoffs they were picked to win District 9-2A-II.
But the 2024 season didn’ t go like the Blue Devils had hoped. They went 2-8 for the season and finished in a tie for fifth place in the district standings with Detroit at 2-4. Maud won the district title at 6-0, followed by 5-1 Clarksville, 3-3 James Bowie and 3-3 Cumby.
This time Dave Campbell’ s Texas Football Magazine picks the Blue Devils to finish sixth in the District 9-2A-II standings behind Clarksville, Maud, James Bowie, Cumby and Detroit.
The Blue Devils, obviously, are hoping to exceed that prediction.
They’ ll have to replace two-year starter Brock Stewart at quarterback but return seven starters on offense and seven on defense.
Back to help the offense are running back Case Reisor, plus wide receiver Kaleb Adams, offensive linemen J. J. Mitchell, Kayvian Dalton, Hunter Bolton and Harvey McFee. Reisor averaged 5.8 yards per carry last season as he rushed for 323 yards and two touchdowns on 56 carries. Adams caught five passes in seven games.
Levi Gross and Case Kittleson are the top candidates for quarterback. Both were on the varsity last season.
Kittleson played more on defense last season, making 50 tackles, including 26
