Maria, can you please tell us about your pageant experience , prior to entering Miss West Africa International?
I started simple, with a national pageant called Miss Photogenic Hessen, and I won. I then took it a step further by participating in international pageants such as Miss Globe, Miss Gambia and Miss West Africa.
What tips can you give to young aspiring beauty queens who want to compete on an international level?
At first I would advice any beauty queen to have a concrete vision of what they stand for and what their goals are in terms of what they want to accomplish after winning the title. You can only convince others to believe in your vision and goals if you totally believe in them yourself. (Cont. p. 23)
Miss West Africa International 2013, Maria Sawaneh
Maria was the first West African expatriate to win Miss West Africa International. She has proven to be a strong mix of beauty and brains. She is 24 years old, with a perfect height of 176 cm and curvy measurements of 93-63-95 cm.
Maria is currently living in Frankfurt Germany, where she is studying to be a lawyer. This month she will be traveling to Gambia to visit children in the SOS Children villages, as well as to embark on charity fundraisers.
