Avoid using if the patient is with ? decompensated heart failure, cardiogenic shock, 2nd or 3rd degree heart block, bradycardia Be cautious if the patient is ? with bronchospastic disease ? pregnant or lactating Adverse effects : inflammation, edema, erythema, fever, flushing Weakness, lightheadedness, rigors, confusion, speech problems Hypertension, bradycardia Urine retention Decreased taste sensitivity Dosage: Adults- initially 500mcg/kg/min IV for 1min. Maintenance dose 50mcg/kg/min for 4min. ! Never mix in solution with diazepam, furosemide, thiopental or sodium bicarbonate. Interactions with verapamil, ibuprofen, indomethacin and piroxicam.
