Paintings have the power to transport us into new places , different time periods and unexplored worlds . And anyone who has had the pleasure of seeing Domingo Zapata ’ s paintings , has been instantly transported into a world of brilliant optimism , playful grittiness and striking colour . The internationally renowned artist ’ s illustrious career has seen him paint the largest vinyl mural in the history of New York City , in Times Square . His work has been featured in galleries , museums and on magazine covers across the globe . His paintings have been collected by various Hollywood stars , pop icons and celebrities . At UNICEF ’ s annual charity auction last year , his ‘ Mona Lisa Bull Fighter ’ sold for over $ 1 million .
Domingo Zapata recently came to Monaco to introduce his retrospective ‘ Mona Lisa and I ’ exhibition , which took place at the G & M Design Gallery . After being propelled into the stratosphere of art careers , Domingo Zapata told HelloMonaco that now it ’ s time to help other people achieve their own dreams .
