NEW LAW COMBATS MONEY LAUNDERING AND TERRORISM
The National Council voted unanimously on a bill which combats money laundering and the financing of terrorism . Bill 1008 , which was passed in December , 2020 , will affect the daily life of Monegasques in one main way : when buying goods in cash that amounts to over 10,000 euros , individuals will have to be prepared to show identity documents . The law also means that one main thing will remain the same : the Principality will continue to have the euro as its currency .
THE GRIMALDI FORUM AND CMB MONACO RENEW THEIR COMMITMENT TO CULTURE
The role of the Principality in promoting high-quality Culture in every facet is increasingly becoming essential . This appeared even more evident during 2020 , a particularly difficult year due to COVID-19 pandemic severe restrictions . Nevertheless , Monaco preserved as many events as possible and the Grimaldi Forum highlighted its role as cultural pivot , once again . The traditional renewal of the agreement between the prestigious Congress & Cultural Centre , and the Compagnie Monégasque de Banque ( CMB ) has taken on a particularly poignant meaning this year , when many cultural events were forced to adapt , postpone or cancel . The official signing was held at Espace Indigo on January , 13 , 2021 in the presence of the international press , including HelloMonaco . At its sixteenth anniversary , it reiterated the engagement to promote Monegasque crosscultural understanding , so dear to CMB Monaco international private bank that has been focusing on asset investments and wealth management since its foundation in 1976 .

ARTCURIAL AUCTIONS A COMIC BOOK FOR MILLIONS : A NEW WORLD RECORD
In January , under the hammer of Arnaud Oliveux , Artcurial organized two auctions dedicated to Comics . The auction entitled ‘ The universe of the creator of Tintin ’ featured more than 100 lots of Hergé , including the long-awaited lot n ° 18 : an illustration by Hergé for the cover of the original edition of the Blue Lotus ( Le Lotus Bleu ) from 1936 . After a bidding war , the masterpiece reached € 3,175,400 and was acquired by a private collector on January , 14 . The previous world record for a comic book drawing was set in 2014 for € 2.6 M .
