STATE of the DISTRICT 2017 - 2018 Attracting New Families and Students Another way HEB ISD is Different by Design 23,120 19,978 Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District is nestled in the heart of the DFW metroplex. Less than 10 years ago, district leadership considered the community to be “landlocked” and did not project much growth in its future. In the last few years, each of the three communities has experienced unexpected economic development shedding a new light and a new needs assessment for the school district. Current Enrollment Enrollment 10 years ago +2,856 +286 Projected Growth PER YEAR PROJECTED over next 10 years HEB ISD ranks as one of the top 20 school districts in Texas, and with an easy commute to both Dallas and Fort Worth, families are attracted to buying homes in the area. This growth is led by a combination of new developments in the area, such as Viridian, Ken Newell, and the Glade Road Area growth. Being the inancially healthy district it is, the conservative projection is growing by approximately 200 students per year. With this increase in student enrollment comes the need for additional instructional space. The district has added portable buildings and found temporary solutions to accommodate this growth, but as we look to plan for the future, HEB ISD leadeship will begin exploring options for permanent solutions including the possible construction of new campuses. 20 2 elementary schools grades k - 6 HIGH schools grades 10 - 12 22,883 3 5 JUNIOR HIGH schools grades 7 - 9 non-traditional campuses CURRENT STUDENT ENROLLMENT Projected student enrollment for 2017-18 school year 6 +2,485 students +1,339 students 5.7% 23,407 students growth in 5 years 10.6% growth in 10 years
