Leadership Academy
Wins Magna Award and $5000 Prize
HEB ISD’s Leadership Academy program is one
of only 3 programs in the country to earn a $5000
award from the National School Board Association.
Leadership Academy is a 6-month course, hosted
by the HEB ISD Board of Trustees, to educate
community members about the inner workings of
the school district. It’s turning curious community
members into devoted ambassadors: 4 current
school board members are graduates of the program.

The National School Board Association chose HEB
ISD’s Board of Trustees and the Leadership Academy
program to receive their 2016 Magna Award. The
Magna Award recognizes “school districts and their
leaders taking bold and innovative steps to improve
the lives of their students and their communities.”
This grand prize includes a $5000 contribution to
the school district.

Volunteers of Americas Texas is a faith-based, nonprofit dedicated
to helping the vulnerable to reach their full potential.
WE SUPPORT THE MOST VULNERABLE BY:
• Helping to beat addiction
• Preventing youth substance abuse
