Heavy Water Magazine July 2013
What we are about
We are a not for profit organisation based in Surry Hills, and we rely on donations and government funds to support our business.
Heavy Water, will be working with Sawyer Water filters and Kathmandu, who kindly donate dry bags and water filters that my company will then rework, and will then be shipped off to Tanzania, Africa. My business will be working in partnership with Heath Action Promotion Association (HAPA), which is a Tanzanian NGO, who will directly transport back packs to local community groups, .
Women spend an average of 4-6 hours each day travelling long distances. The main method of carrying these heavy containers of water is on your head, and the water carrying is mainly performed by women or children, carrying water containers on their head with a weight of 19.5 kg, and women can carry up to 70% of their weight upon their head. This method used in most African countries has high potentials to produce musculoskeletal disorders and related disabilities.
Our Philosophy
Our Vision
In Australia our access to running water is largely taken for granted, if we need to wash our selves, clean item, or drink, we simply turn on the tap, with certainty that a supply of fresh clean water will be readily available at our finger tips. In Tanzania, Africa, water access is not nearly as simple. Our company aims at improving the quality of life, and enable an easier way of accessing clean water. Our ergonomic backs ensure carrying water doesn't cause injury, and provide sanitary water free from disease.
Heavy Water works in Tanzania, Africa. At Heavy Water we are passionate about improving the quality of life for those living in poor countires. We have just recently expanded our franchise to helping other African countires, and hope that we can eventually spread our products throughout the world to all developing countries.
