“La crostata” - an
Italian Jam Tart
Ingredients:
300g flour
150g butter
100g sugar
1 egg and
1 yolk
1 pinch of salt
1cup of jam
1 tablespoon grated lemon peel
1 teaspoon baking powder
Steps:
1.
Put the egg in a mixing bowl
2.
Add the sugar then the pinch of salt , the
butter,the grated lemon peel and at the end the
flour
3.
Add the baking powder and mix it all up
4.
Knead
5.
Put the dough in bowl and wait
6.
After 1 hour roll ¾ of the dough and put it in a
baking tray.
7.
Spread jam on it.
8.
Roll out the remaining dough and cut into strips
or use pastry shape cutters
9.
Lay them over the prepared tart
10. Bake for half an hour at 175 °

Ingredients:
150 g of bread crumbs
150 g of “Amaretti “(almond biscuits)
150 g of bitter cacoa powder
150 g of chopped chocolate
1 glass of sugar
4 eggs
1 shot of Alchermes ( a bright crimson liqueur)
1 grated lemon
1,5 l of milk
Steps:
1.
Put the “amaretti” and the bread crumbs
in the milk and wait 30 minutes.
2.
Put the eggs in a bowl and beat, then add
the sugar and beat again
3.
Add the bitter cocoa,the chopped choco-
late,
4.
the grated lemon
5.
and then the alchermes
6.
Beat slowly and then add the amaretti
and the bread crumbs.
7.
Put the mixture into a floured baking tin
8.
Bake in the oven at 180 ° C for one hour
