Mitsubishi Electric to establish IT cooling facility in Ohio
MCF Group Estonia and Caverion Finland sign agreement
MCF Group Estonia and Caverion Finland have signed an agreement to add 22 MW of IT power and cooling to Greenergy Data Centers located in Estonia. Upon completion, the campus will provide a total of 31.5 MW of capacity. As the main contractor, Caverion is responsible for the technical systems required for the expansion, including electrical, cooling, ventilation, and fire protection systems. The expansion of the data hall is expected to be completed in autumn 2026. MCF Group’ s data centre is the largest in the Baltic region and represents world-class technological standards. It complies with the highest international security requirements. The data centre has a broad economic impact: it strengthens Estonia’ s competitiveness and position as a hub for digital infrastructure in the Baltics. The centre also creates conditions for
new foreign investments. The project employs approximately 200 experts on site and will be carried out with a network of companies in Estonia. Caverion and its parent company, Assemblin Caverion Group, have a strong position as trusted partners for demanding industrial and infrastructure projects. In the data infrastructure market, Caverion is known as a technical designer and implementation partner for large, technologically advanced industrial and infrastructure projects requiring very high safety and quality standards. Caverion has participated in nine data centre projects in Finland and dozens of other technologically advanced industrial and infrastructure projects that require very high safety and quality standards. The agreement in Estonia follows recent data centre assignments in Finland, Denmark and Sweden, showcasing the broad span of the Group’ s capabilities.
Mitsubishi Electric Corporation plans to establish a new U. S. company, MEHITS US, Inc., to manufacture IT cooling equipment at a facility in Mason, Ohio, strengthening its position in the rapidly expanding U. S. data center market. The company plans to invest approximately USD 30M to renovate and repurpose part of an existing Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America production facility. Manufacturing is scheduled to begin in April 2027. The new operation will create a local production system designed to shorten lead times, strengthen product supply, and improve Mitsubishi Electric’ s competitiveness in the U. S. market. The company also plans to develop products tailored to local customer requirements, including higher energy efficiency and compatibility with liquid cooling technologies. Mitsubishi Electric currently supplies IT cooling equipment in the United States through
Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, combining cooling solutions with power infrastructure such as uninterruptible power supplies. The cooling equipment is currently developed and manufactured by Mitsubishi Electric Hydronics & IT Cooling Systems in Italy. With local manufacturing, Mitsubishi Electric aims to expand its one-stop service capabilities, covering system design proposals, sales, installation support, and maintenance. The company expects growing demand from AI infrastructure and generative AI deployments to drive investment in energy-efficient industrial and data center facilities. The Ohio facility is part of Mitsubishi Electric’ s broader strategy to expand its global IT cooling business through local production, partnerships and acquisitions. The company also intends to integrate cooling solutions with power supply equipment to provide comprehensive infrastructure solutions for customers.
PILLER reaches next milestone in BASF Project
Piller Blowers & Compressors has reached a major milestone in one of the world’ s significant industrial heat pump projects with the successful delivery and installation of its first compressors at BASF’ s Ludwigshafen site in Germany. PILLER is supplying 11 VapoFlex ® compressor stages for an industrial heat pump system being delivered by GKT GmbH as EPC contractor. The system will recover waste heat from BASF’ s Steamcracker II and convert it into useful energy for generating process steam used in formic acid production. The delivery marks the first visible stage of PILLER’ s engineering and manufacturing work at the construction site. The company said
successful execution requires close coordination between equipment deliveries, construction progress, site logistics and subsequent installation activities. The compressors have been positioned on specially designed elevated concrete bases. This configuration eliminates the need for a separate condensate collection pit, with piping directing condensate to a central collection tank. The approach is intended to reduce construction costs while supporting reliable plant operation. PILLER also worked with GKT to address machine accessibility, maintenance and workplace safety during the planning phase. Recommendations included the
positioning of work platforms, guardrails and maintenance access points to support safe and efficient servicing. Marcus Iseke, Head of the Order Center at PILLER, said successful delivery demonstrates the
company’ s ability to manage complex technical, scheduling and organizational interfaces. The next phase will involve assembling and integrating the compressor trains before preparing the system for commissioning.
