John - Written in a different style than
the other gospels, John focuses more on
the spiritual meaning of Jesus’ teachings
and actions. It contains the most famous
verse in the Bible, John 3:16. It was probably the last of the gospels, written between 80 A.D. and 100 A.D.
Acts - Starting with the ascension of
Jesus, this follows the beginnings of the
early church. Written by Luke as the second half to his Gospel, probably around
63 A.D.
Romans - Written to the church in
Rome by Paul, probably around 55 A.D.,
it explores some of the deepest themes
about salvation.
1 & 2 Corinthians - Written by Paul
to the church in Corinth about two years
apart. The first letter, circa 54 A.D., deals
with many issues the new church is facing
and contains the well-known love chapter. The second letter, written about 56
A.D., reveals his joy at the reaction to his
first letter.
Galatians - Possibly Paul’s first letter,
written about 49 A.D., to the church at
Galatia (now Turkey). He emphasizes that
faith alone saves.
Ephesians - Paul’s letter to Ephesus
(now Turkey) is more sermon than letter.
It was possibly written in the early 60s
A.D. when he was under house arrest.
Philippians - Written to the church

at Philippi (now Greece), this letter by
Paul is one of encouragement. The date
for this letter may be as early as 54 A.D.
or, more likely, in the early 60s A.D.
Colossians - This missive to Colossae
(now Turkey) appeals for Christian maturity. Paul probably wrote this in the early
