Texas A&M AgriLife Extension - Zapata County, presented at the Zapata County Employee Workshop on Nov. 22, 2017 and Zapata County Employees had the opportunity to join the Maintain No Gain Holiday Challenge. Participants had to maintain their weight within 2 lbs. over the 6 week period of the holidays by exercising more and consuming more fruits and vegetables. 66 county employees join the Maintain No Gain program. The participants that joined in on that day had the opportunity to have their names added to a raffle. Some of the incentives being raffled were; a lunch bag with goodies inside to carry a healthy lunch to work, a Healthy South Texas backpack also with goodies inside such as physical activity equipment to start working out, and a healthy recipe cookbook.

Judge, Joe Rathmell chose the winnning tickets for the raffle of incentives given away for joining the Maintain No Gain Holiday Challenge.

Healthy South Texas initiative coordinator, Luisa Colin and Healthy South Texas Specialist, Erica Reyes were excited to present to one of the biggest crowds for the Maintain No Gain Holiday Challenge. Zapata Health Agent, Sammy Luera and Better Living for Texans - Program Assistant, Amanda Villarreal helped organize, promote, and implement the nutrition and physical activity program. A special thank you to Judge, Joe Rathmell for allowing and willing to provide health and wellness programs and the opportunity for all county employees to participate.
