There are drugs that can be used to treat arthritis such as painkillers to release the pin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs to reduce the inflammation. As well as steroid tablets and local steroid injections that are powerful anti inflammation treatments. On the other hand there are physical therapies that one can do to overcome the symptoms of their arthritis. There is hydrotherapy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy or also just as massage. This will bring relief in pain and increase increase the blood flow which will bring warmth to the stressed area. Surgery can also be done if the joints are under very severe conditions a joint replacement can be done. The surgeons will replace the affected joints with artificial joints called prostheses. Other surgeries could include repositioning of bones (osteotomy), resurfacing or smoothing bones and removal of loose pieces of bone and cartilage. Adding on, it is crucial for one to live a healthy life style, this includes of a healthy diet and exercise in order to maintain a healthy and strong body. The diet and exercise will help lose fat, hence reducing the stress on the joints, adding on, the exercise will also help in strengthening the muscles to support the joints and making the joints more flexible. The exercises should include strengthening exercises such as weight lifting, aerobic activities such as walking, range of motion activities to keep the joints limber and balance and agility exercises to help maintain balance hence to reduce risk of falling.
