Causes

The causes of arthritis depend on the form of arthritis. However causes such as injury, abnormal metabolism, inheritance, infections, age, over reactive immune system, excess body weight and heavy physical labor could be factors resulting to ay one type of arthritis. On one hand osteoarthritis is mainly triggered by putting too much stress on a joint that has previously been injured, carrying heavy object that contribute to excess weight, improper alignment of joints as well as excess body weight as it adds on stress to the joints. On the other hand, rheumatoid arthritis coming as a result of the immune system attacking the synovium which results to an inflammation eventually destroys the cartilage and bone within the joint, which results in weakening the tendons and ligaments holding the joint hence stretching them, gradually making the joint lose its shape and alignment. So far, doctors do not have the knowledge of what starts the process, there is a possibility that it comes as a result of genetics. The genes are not necessarily the causes towards rheumatoid arthritis; however they make it more susceptible to environmental factors, such as infections with certain viruses and bacteria that may trigger the disease.
