Now that you know the Water Success Path Baby Steps and have determined what step you will take this month, it is now time to apply the 4 Laws of Habit Change to create your water habit system for optimal success. These 4 Laws are explained in full detail in the Habit Overview Lesson. Go through each law below with water examples. You will create your unique habit system on the worksheet that follows these Law pages.

1. CUE:

Make it Obvious

A cue is anything that gets your attention and signifies what to do next. As you might expect, cues that are more obvious are more likely to be acted upon.

Implementation intention

Use Implementation intention: I will [BEHAVIOR] at [TIME] in [LOCATION].

Example: I will drink 8oz. of water when I eat lunch in the lunchroom.

Prepare your environment: Put water bottle in lunch box.

How to Make it Obvious

And/Or use Habit Stacking: After [CURRENT HABIT], I will [NEW HABIT].

Example: After I set the coffee pot, I will drink 8oz of water.

Prepare your environment: Put water bottle by coffee pot.

HABIT CHANGE

Other ENVIRONMENT examples: In the morning, place bottle(s) around in your environment.
