Do you have a favorite soup recipe that could use a face lift? Or maybe you have a salsa recipe that could use a little extra kick? Or do you hate when a recipe calls for fresh herbs and you don't have any on hand? Essential oils to the rescue! It is so easy to add essential oils to soups, salsas, sauces, smoothies and more!
Typically, one drop of essential oil is equivalent to two teaspons of dried herbs - yes, they are that potent. Dip a toothpick into the bottle and stir into your ingredients until you reach the desired amount for taste. Always use the toothpick method when cooking with potent oils such as Cassia, Cinnamon, Clove, Cumin, Oregano, or Thyme.
By adding oils to your food and drinks, you are not only providing more flavor, but you can simultaneously enjoy the internal benefits of a particular oil. Using essential oils when cooking provides a unique way to experience the benefits of essential oils.
When consuming essential oils, only cook/use oils approved for internal use. You will know it is approved as the bottle will tell you it is ok for internal use and will have a "Supplement Facts" label. The only brand I trust for internal use is doTERRA.
Avoid using plastic containers, utensils, etc, as essential oils can potentially ruin certain kinds of plastic. Try using glass, ceramic or stainless steel instead.
It is ok to add a little extra essential oil in baked goods to ensure the flavor remains after baking.
