How to CREATE HABITS THAT LAST A LIFETIME

Now that you know the Rest Success Path and have determined what step you will take this month, it is now time to apply the 4 Laws of Habit Change to create your rest habit system for optimal success. These 4 Laws are explained in full detail in the video Learn About Habits lesson in the Academy site.

Go through each law below with examples. I recommend printing off the worksheet on page 14. You will create your unique habit system by answering the questions on the worksheet.

1. CUE:

Make it Obvious

A cue is anything that gets your attention and signifies what to do next. As you might expect, cues that are more obvious are more likely to be acted upon.

Use Implementation  intention: I will [BEHAVIOR] at [TIME] in [LOCATION].

Example: I will read [x] book for 15 minutes at 2pm every day, while sitting on the couch in the living room.

Prepare your environment: Select a great book to read. Get the book. Put your book on the table next to the couch. Set a 2pm daily timer to remind you to read.

Prepare your environment: Put your workout equipment in a basket in the living room. Decide how you will watch the videos (smart phone,  iPad, etc) & set up.

How to Make it Obvious

And/Or use Habit Stacking: After [CURRENT HABIT], I will [NEW HABIT].

Example: After I eat and clean up from lunch, I will make a cup of tea, and then sit on the porch for 15 minutes and relax and enjoy the beauty of creation.

Prepare your environment: Gather tea making tools and your favorite tea into one spot in the kitchen. Clean up the porch and chair/rocker.

HABIT CHANGE
