Dear Frustrated Teen,
I understand what you're feeling. You shouldn't be worrying so much. Here are some tips to help your self-esteem.
1. Follow the Canada's Food Guide. That means eating 6 servings of Grains, and 6 servings of Fruits/Vegetables every day. Maybe you aren't getting enough carbohydrates (which provides energy for working muscles, provides fuel for the central nervous system, and enables fat metabolism), so that it takes longer to break down fats into fatty acids and glycerol. Maybe you have a slower metabloism, which means it just takes a bit longer than your friend to digest things.
2. Exercise more often! When you're active, you burn excess fat and calories. Also, you benefit yourself by building stronger muscles, and/or becoming more flexible. If you exercise outside, you also get Vitamin D from the sun. Vitamin D allows you to absorb calcium, which maintains healthy, strong bones.
