TIP:

Don't re-use water bottles that you bought at a convinience store. Look for better and longer lasting jugs and tumblers that can protect your water better.

If losing weight is one of your concerns, then water might just be your new best friend! Other than filling you up so you feel less hungry for food, choosing water over sugary drinks like soda, juice, or Frappuccinos really lessens your calorie-intake. If you're getting a combo meal from JSEC, opt to get bottled water instead of juice or iced tea. And for those breaks in between breakfast and lunch when you think you're hungry so you go buy yourself a snack from Gonzaga? Just drink water instead! It will get rid of those cravings and get you through those breaks when you're just bored and not really hungry. In addition to that, a well-hydrated body is especially important if you do extra exercise in the gym or at home as it prevents cramps and sprains, and gets you through your run!

All health benefits aside, water saves you money. In a restaurant where a soda could cost you 50 to 80 pesos, or in Starbucks where a drink is around 130 pesos, you might rather consider getting water which is, um, FREE. Even inside Ateneo, there are water fountains everywhere! All you need is to bring your own water bottle to school, fill and refill it from the water fountains, and carry it with you or keep it in your bag so you can hydrate anywhere at anytime. You can't do that with the drinks from JSEC that they put in the reusable cups and that you have to return to get your money back. And water bottles mean waste, so why not save Mother Earth the extra plastic while you're at it? 20 pesos might not seem like that much money to save, but 20 pesos a day is 100 a week, and 400 a month. That, AND clear skin, not getting sick, and more energy for school and play --what more could you want?
